nutrition during treatment
My 60 year old father was diagnosed with stage 3 throat cancer a few months back. He is currently in his third week of chemo and radiation therapy. I've done my best to research the topic of healing cancer with nutrition however, the information I come across seems to be opposite of what he is being told by the nutritionist he was appointed. I only want what's best for my father and do not want to interfere by providing him with potentially harmful information. I'm truly torn and hope someone can provide some useful and accurate information.
As far as I have read through various sources, increasing the intake of antioxidants is beneficial to the cancer patient. I've also read that flax seed oil can provide positive benefits however, he was told to avoid any kind of antioxidant foods was well as flax seed oil while receiving treatment. I'm hoping someone here is familiar with this topic and can provide me with some accurate information.

Ovarian Cancer
I was diagnosed with ovairan cancer Feb. 09. Had surgery to remove tumor, ovaries, omentum and cancer that was spread around the colon. Had two cancer treatments of taxol & carboplatin. Very bad side effects. Tremendous body pain and other side effects. Quit Chemo and decided to go full boar with diet. Became a Vegan and have gone on a "Cancer Free" diet, with supplements also. Before my surgery my ca 125 was 369. After surgery it was 40 then went to 26, then to 19 and is now 7. I am feeling great. Of course my oncologist was not happy with my decision to stop Chemo but he is still monitering me. I have not heard of any others that have tried diet instead. My primary doctor is very supportive of what I am doing. I know I have no guarantee that this will cure my cancer but I am in great hopes that if I do not give the cancer anything to feed on it will die. I would like to hear from others that are trying something like this. Some may say I am crazy. Well maybe I am but I am sure going to give it my best try.

Food is medicine
I think a better way to say it is nutrition is medicine. When you have cancer, alot of times your body cannot work the process of digesting food so you have to find a way to get nutrition into your body, other wise you don`t survive!

Doctors, Patients Should Weigh Risks vs. Rewards Of Medical Imaging
After an imaging test revealed a small nodule in Dr. Len Lichtenfeld's lung, his doctor ordered a series of CT scans. But Lichtenfeld turned them down. As deputy chief medical officer of the American Cancer Society, Lichtenfeld knew the tiny nodule probably wasn't dangerous and that new research has documented an increased risk of cancer from CT scans' X-rays.
